Mid City Beer Garden

The Beer Garden in Mid-City Baton Rouge was designed to promote pedestrian traffic along Government Street corridor and to encourage biking. The design is comfortable, industrial and minimal with a simple palette of black steel, brick, glass and natural wood.  Passive cooling strategies including operable wall panels and shading are utilized to minimize mechanical systems.  Most of the building is open-air.  The bar and some raised seating areas are convertible, with operable glass walls allowing them to be closed off and cooled in the hot summer, but opened up the rest of the year for a true Beer Garden experience.  A custom designed tap wall with handmade tap handles and beer signs is the main focal point inside the bar area.  Soft glowing lighting, abundant planting, fans and gas heaters create a comfortable feeling in this sleek, modern design.
